Profhilo
Profhilo is a new biocompatible anti–ageing approach. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a substance that is naturally produced by the body, it is hydrophilic, meaning it draws and holds water. Its role is to retain moisture in the body and aid collagen production. It can hold 1000 times its weight in water which makes it ideal for binding moisture in the skin.
Profhilo is a biocompatible HA that stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin. This bio-remodelling treatment provides improvements in skin texture, elasticity and hydration. Profhilo is especially formulated for people whose skin lacks volume and elasticity.
-
Profhilo contains one of the highest levels of HA on the market. It is biocompatible and therefore integrates into the tissues and acts as a hydrator and bio stimulator rather than a filler. Its function is not to volumise like traditional fillers but to induce bio-stimulation of cells by slow release of HA.
As we age levels of collagen, elastin and HA in the skin rapidly drop resulting in signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles and volume loss. Profhilo hydrates and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin which produces a secondary effect of skin tightening.
-
Treatment consists of 2 courses of Profhilo 4 weeks apart. Treatment areas include the face, neck, décolletage and hands.
The clinician injects Profhilo into five specific BAP (bio aesthetic point) sites on each side of the face or neck. The injections are usually well tolerated and are just under the skin layers. Profhilo then spreads out across the tissue.
The maximum effect of Profhilo is usually seen 2 months after the second treatment.
Annual treatments are recommended but can be done at 6 monthly intervals.
-
There are no long-term side effects. Profhilo is metabolised by the body completely.
Some people may experience redness, slight bruising, tenderness as well as itching at the injection sites but these are temporary and should resolve within a few hours to a day.
